Sisters (2022)
Anastasia (13) und Diana (9) sind zwei Schwestern, die in einem lettischen Waisenhaus leben. Als sie erfahren, dass eine amerikanische Familie bereit ist, sie zu adoptieren, kann Diana den Umzug in die Staaten kaum erwarten, während Anastasia weniger davon begeistert ist, ihre Heimat und ihre erwachsene Schwester Yulia und deren Baby Lily zu verlassen. Als ihre von ihnen entfremdete Mutter Alla aus dem Gefängnis entlassen wird, unternimmt Anastasia alles, um eine Beziehung zu ihr aufzubauen, doch Alla ist der Beginn eines neuen Lebens wichtiger. Anastasia muss eine schwerwiegende Entscheidung treffen – ihre Mutter und Yulia zurückzulassen und nach Amerika zu ziehen, oder im Heim zu bleiben, in der Hoffnung auf ein Leben mit ihrer Mutter. Anastasias Entscheidung wird noch gravierender, als sie erfährt, dass das Schicksal ihrer Schwester ebenfalls davon abhängt, weil Geschwister laut Gesetz nicht getrennt werden dürfen.
